Introducing Fandom and Endorsements

What time is it?

PLAYOFFS TIME!

This is where the real competition begins. We’ll find out who gets to raise the trophy, and who gets an early trip to Cancun.

In NBA 2K Mobile, all of the playoff action will be on Rewind, where you get to recreate the greatest plays from the night before, or re-write history for your favorite teams and players. No other game will be capturing the NBA’s best players making highlight reels on the biggest stage. The action starts with the Play-In Tournament this week.

Next week we’ll also have Playoff Picker, new theme cards that get PWR upgrades as teams advance in real life, a themed Tourney, special edition cards, and much more to celebrate the playoffs.

But … right now it’s UPDATE TIME! A new app update is available. Let’s get into it…

Fandom Trees

We’re pulling the curtain back on new features that will challenge you like never before, and REWARD you like never before.

Fandom asks you to show your allegiance to your favorite NBA team. On that team’s Fandom Tree, you can elect to use Fandom Points to unlock persistent, always-on boosts that last for the duration of the tree. Your choices can deliver benefits such as:

  • PWR boosts for all your cards from that franchise

  • Attribute boosts for all your cards from that franchise

  • Team PWR boosts for having a card from that franchise in your lineup

  • Bonus Rewind Points for Top Plays and Replays involving that franchise

Fandom Points can be collected from various touchpoints within gameplay, such as completing weekly objectives in The Stat Line, upgrading Team Cards you earn from Rewind to new rarities, advancing on the Courtside Pass track (starting next month), and more. The Fandom Tree shows a track with all the different boosts you can unlock, so you can plan your attack.

You can also unlock trees for more NBA teams using Fandom Points or coins. Multiple trees can be active at the same time, and you can make progress on any that are active.

Fandom is also now where you select the NBA team you play as across the game. Your “Favorite” tree determines this. You can still switch your favorite team at any time, but only to teams whose trees you have unlocked.

If you unlock multiple boosts within a tree that are identical or impacting the same type of upgrade – say, two separate ones that give 5% PWR boosts to cards – they will accumulate and form an even more powerful boost (10% in this case).

Once you have unlocked at least one boost on a tree, you have the option to re-spec it by using coins. This essentially means a reset of the tree, re-locking all boosts and refunding you all the Fandom Points you spent on that tree. Use this feature if you change your mind about which tree to use your Fandom Points on. (Click the Summary button to find this option.)

Now, when you’re on Reddit or Discord, comparing builds with other players, you’ll have to ask them how they set up their Fandom! (Catch Fandom in the top left corner of the main menu.)

Endorsements and the Vault

Earn more free coins than ever via Endorsements! This new feature generates coins for you in the background without any action needed on your part. Some income from Endorsements will be a base amount of coins earned every six hours, whether you’re playing the game or not. Others deliver coins for points scored and other metrics.

At launch, the 2K Endorsement will be available to all. We’ll be adding more in the future, hence the “Coming Soon” that you’ll see in-game. The “Incentive” reward in the 2K Endorsement can be earned up to 20 times total, while the “Base Income” and “Sweetener” ones are unlimited.

The coins collected from Endorsements go into your Vault. Now, while you can claim the Vault as frequently as you like, there’s a maximum capacity to the Vault. If your Vault is full, you’ll stop collecting coins and when you click Claim, the overflow will go to waste. Think of it as, the Vault is full, and you just can’t stuff more coins into it! You’ll want to check back every day to make sure you’re claiming all of your possible Endorsements coins, and multiple times per day to avoid overflow. In addition, there will be opportunities to increase the capacity of your Vault.

Find Endorsements at the top of the column of buttons on the left side of the main menu. With Endorsements being added there, Chat has moved to the top right corner.

Everything Else!

  • Now, before you enter games in events, Tourneys and Rewind, get a better sense of matchups via new visuals that display how your PWR lines up against your opponent and which difficulty category the game falls into. There are five categories, and the one it falls into determines how difficult a game will be. You’ll see meters for this under Play buttons and on pregame screens with lineups.

  • Top Plays in Rewind now reward more points the farther you progress, with Top Play #1 giving the most Rewind points for a given day.

  • Rewind has a new track for progression rewards similar to events. Rewards are based on your tier and can include Titanium Quartz cards. In this week’s leaderboard, get an early chance to earn Playoffs theme collectibles.

  • Rewind leaderboard rewards are now additive – when you collect rewards listed for the bracket you finish in, you’ll also collect the rewards from the brackets below it.

  • And, as always, a whole bunch o’ bugs were stomped.

More on Playoffs Activities

  • Instead of two weeks, Rewind will have varying lengths of leaderboards during the playoffs. This week has a quick one featuring strictly Play-In action, and then another starts Sunday for first-round action.

  • Playoff Picker will reward one Playoffs theme collectible until the Finals, when it switches to a Finals theme collectible.

  • Starting when the playoffs tip off, you’ll notice some changes in player and fan behavior during games. The intensity will ramp up! You’ll also see “Playoffs” signage in arenas.

That’s it! OK, hands in everyone … 1 … 2 … 3 … HOOP!
